How to set up a proxy in Kameleo

Kameleo runs antidetect profiles on desktop and on Android, and it has a local API with libraries for Selenium, Puppeteer and Playwright.

Which proxy works best with Kameleo?

Residential proxies suit desktop profiles. For Kameleo's mobile profiles, mobile proxies make the network match the device the profile claims to be.

Proxy settings for Kameleo: host, port and login

A BooProxies plan gives you four things: a host, a port, a username and a password. These are the values for Residential; the username and password are on your plan page.

Hostresi.proxies.boo
HTTP port8080
SOCKS5 port1080
UsernameUSERNAME
Passwordfrom your plan page

As one line:

resi.proxies.boo:8080:USERNAME:PASSWORD

The country and the session are chosen in the username, not in a separate setting. The generator on your plan page writes the username for you, and Targeting and sessions explains each part.

Kameleo proxy setup, step by step

  1. Create a profile and open its settings.
  2. Go to the Proxy setting and choose a custom proxy. Set the type to HTTP (port 8080) or SOCKS5 (port 1080).
  3. Enter the host resi.proxies.boo, the port, your username and your password, each in its own field.
  4. Press the connection test. It should come back with an IP address in the country you chose in the username.
  5. Save the profile and start it. Open an IP-check page inside the profile to confirm the address once more.

Menu names can differ a little between versions of Kameleo. The four values to enter are always the same.

Rotating or sticky sessions for Kameleo?

Give each Kameleo profile a sticky session of its own, so the profile comes back from the same IP address each time it is opened. One profile, one session ID: a session ID shared by two profiles gives them the same address, which links them. Rotating on every request suits scraping, not an account that is meant to look like one person.

A sticky username looks like this:

USERNAME-country-us-time-600-session-a1b2c3d4

Kameleo proxy not working?

  • A mobile profile on a datacenter IP address is an obvious mismatch. Match the proxy type to the kind of device the profile imitates.
  • A 407 error means the username or password was not accepted. Copy both again from your plan page, and check that nothing added a space or cut the username short.
  • If the IP address is in the wrong country, look at the username: the country code is part of it. More fixes.
