What is a proxy pool?

A proxy pool is the whole set of IP addresses a proxy service can send your requests through. Each request is given one address from it.

A pool has a kind, such as residential or mobile, and a spread across countries. When you ask for a country, your request is given an address from the part of the pool that is in that country. The size of that part decides how often you will see the same address again.

Advertised pool sizes are hard to compare, because every seller counts differently. What matters for your work is whether the pool has enough addresses in the place you need, and whether your target accepts them. The cheap way to find out is to buy a small plan and try it.

Questions about proxy pool

Does a bigger pool mean a better proxy?

Only up to a point. A pool needs enough addresses where you work so that you do not keep meeting the same ones. Past that, how the addresses are treated by your target matters more than how many there are.

Can I see the addresses in a pool?

No. With a rotating service you connect to a gateway and are given an address for each request. You can see each address you were given by checking your exit IP.

A rotating proxy gives each new connection a different IP address from a pool, so no single address makes enough requests to be noticed.
Geo-targeting
Geo-targeting means choosing the country, state or city your proxy request leaves from, so a website shows what local visitors see there.
IP reputation
